Yunaidi lives in Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lecheria are Haitian. Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Yunaidi lives with both parents and siblings, Nancy, Chellin, Sherlanda, and Ruben in a very small house. Her mom picks cherries, and dad works at the river collecting stone for a living. However, it is not enough to provide for the family's basic needs. Yunaidi attends public school, and her favorite subject is math. She likes to hang out with her friends in her free time. Yuanidi's favorite color is pink, and she hopes to become a doctor one day.
