Abdul lives with his mother who is a fish trader. His father died while his mother was pregnant with Abdul. His mother does not know the date of his birth, so we celebrate Abdul's birthday on January 1. Abdul's mother is not able to adequately provide food for Abdul or meet his other basic needs. Realizing this, Abdul goes to the streets in search of scrap metals in drainage ditches to trade in exchange for food. Before his sponsorship, Abdul had never been to school due to a lack of funds to pay for school tuition, uniforms, school supplies and other school fees. Abdul would like to be an attorney in the future.
