Yudelka lives in Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. Yudelka lives with both parents and her sister.  To sustain the family, her dad drives a motorbike that serves as local transport, and her mother occasionally works in a cherry plantation. Often their income is not sufficient to provide even for the basic needs of the family. They live in a rented one-room house. Yudelka speaks Spanish and attends school. Her favorite color is red, and in her free time she likes to hang out with her friends.
