Yarisleidi lives in Batey Lecheria, a village on the outskirts of Santo Domingo. Yarisleidi is of Haitian descent and lives with her mom and her older brother, Gerald. Her dad abandoned the family when Yarisleidi was born, and her mom has had difficulty finding work. Haitians are routinely passed over for better work because of their nationality. Yarisleidi currently attends school and loves to read. In her free time, Yarisleidi likes to run and play with her friends. In the future, Yarisleidi wants to study to become a teacher.
