Yafreisi lives with her parents and siblings in Batey Lacheria in the Dominican Republic. Lecheria is a predominantly Haitian village. Like many villages in the Dominican Republic, people often settle and build makeshift homes on land they do not own. Yafreisi's mom cannot find work, and her dad sells plantains and fruit for a living. Her father's income cannot adequately provide for their family. Yafreisi currently attends public school, and reading is her favorite subject. In her free time, she enjoys running and playing with her friends. Yafreisi's favorite color is yellow, and she homes to become a nurse one day.
