Solomon lost his father to Ebola in 2014. Since his father's death, he has lived with his mother, who has remarried with eight children to care for in her new home. Solomon is perceived as an extra burden to her. His mother is a gardener and does not earn enough income to take adequate care of all the children under her care. Solomon says he always remembers the promise his father made to him "I will ensure, Solomon, that you will be more educated than me." Solomon was forced to discontinue school in Class III due to the lack of funds to pay for tuition, school supplies, uniforms, and other school fees. But once he was sponsored, he was able to continue his education and his favorite subject is math. He hopes to become a bank manager one day and he enjoys playing soccer.
