Shreya was born into a Christian family. She has three sisters. The village where she was raised is a very small village with limited resources. Shreya's father worked to support the family, however, he abandoned the family. This left Shreya's mother, who had raised the girls and was a housewife, to figure out how to sustain the family. She found work in the fields as daily laborer, but even so, her earnings were insufficient to fulfill even her four girls' basic needs. It is not uncommon for the family to not have any food to eat. Shreya's mother has therefore requested admittance for Shreya and her sister, Anshika, into Mercy Homes. Shreya's favorite color is yellow, and she would like to become a police officer in the future.
