Sarah was born in 2012 and lives in Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lecheria are Haitian. Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Sarah lives with her mother and siblings, Rosa, Julio and Libya. Her dad abandoned the family many years ago. Sarah's family lives in a humble home. Her mother sells vegetables and fruit on the streets of the village in which they live, but it is not enough to provide for her family's basic needs. Sarah attends public school, and her favorite subject is art. Her favorite color is white, and she loves to draw. Sarah hopes to become a teacher one day.
