Saniya was born into a Hindu family. She comes from a very impoverished background. Saniya has four sisters. Saniya grew up seeing many struggles in her family. Her father was a diabetic patient for a long time. They live in a remote part of a village so they were not aware of his exact condition. They did not seek medical assistance because they could not afford it. As a result, Saniya's father became seriously ill and some of their relatives gathered to take him to a city hospital for treatment. There, he was diagnosed with kidney failure. This was disturbing for the whole family. Her family sold all they had and took on lots of debt for dialysis to save his life. In the end, Saniya lost her father to kidney failure. Saniya's mother requested admittance into Mercy Homes because she can not provide for the family. Saniya's five-year-old sister, Sonal, was also admitted to Mercy Homes.
