Sanfa was born in 2006. His grandparents do not know the exact date of his birth so we celebrate his birthday on January 1st. Sanfa lives with his grandmother, who is currently not working. His father was taken to a home for people with mental illness six months ago and his mother passed away when he was five years old. Sanfa suffers from depression over the situation with his parents. His grandmother cannot adequately provide food or meet Sanfa's other basic needs. Realizing this, Sanfa found work organizing fish to be dried in a Banda fish shack. Children working in Bandas are constantly exposed to the smoke and stench that gathers in the shack. He also works transporting baskets loaded with fish from the wharf to the park for selling. Sanfa would like to become a doctor in the future.
