Samuel was born in 2006. His grandmother does not know the exact date of his birth so we celebrate his birthday on January 1st. Samuel lives with his grandmother who is a woodcutter. His parents passed away when he was two years old. He has no memories of them and suffers from depression due to the loss of his parents. His grandmother decided to take him in even though her work is minimal due to a medical condition she has with her foot. Samuel's grandmother does not have the means to provide sufficient food for or meet Samuel's other basic needs. Realizing the limitations of his grandmother's ability to provide, Samuel went to find work. He fetches wood from the Tombo Forest to sell. With his income, he sometimes even provides food for his grandmother. Once he was sponsored, he was able to go to school consistently. Samuel would like to become a teacher in the future.
