Pooja's mother and father are Hindi. From a very young age, Pooja has seen many hard times. Pooja's father abandoned the family when she was very young. Her mother was not able to support the pressure of the abandonment by her husband and became mentally ill. Now, Pooja's mother cannot even recognize her own children. Pooja has a younger sister, Purvi who is also in 25 Project's sponsorship program and an older brother. Pooja has an uncle who is a pastor and requested admittance for the girls into Mercy Homes. She loves reading books and wants to be a doctor one day.
