Osman lives with his grandmother who sells food for a living. Osman's father died when he was only one month old. His mother could not provide for him, so Osman was left with his grandmother. Osman's grandmother takes care of five of her grandchildren, and selling food is not enough to provide for both their needs and school costs. Osman is able to begin school each year, but once the next payment is due, Osman is asked out until his grandmother can raise the money. Because of this, Osman experiences lapses in his learning. But thanks to his sponsorship, he has been able to continue his education and his favorite subject is math. He wants to be an engineer one day.
