Nayeli lives in Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lecheria are Haitian. Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Nayeli lives with her aunt. She and her sister, Nashla  were born in Haiti, however, her mother passed away when Nayeli was 10 years old. Her father sent them to the Dominican to live with their aunt. Her aunt is married, works in the village library and has two young children of her own. Nayeli attends the public school, and her favorite class is mathematics. In her free time, Nayeli enjoys hanging with friends. She would like to become a doctor in the future.
