Nataly lives in Batey Lechera in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lechera are Haitian. Nataly lives with her parents and her three siblings. Her father is a farmer and works whenever work is available to provide as best as he can for his family. Nataly's mother works in a cherry plantation. Nataly speaks Spanish and Creole. She attends the public school that is two miles from their village. She is in the 1st grade and her favorite subject is literature. During her free time, Nataly likes to play with dolls. Nataly wants to become a doctor in the future.
