Milagros lives in Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lecheria are Haitian. Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Milagros lives with both of her parents and four siblings, Diana, Clartiza, Francis, and Manuel. Her mother does not work, and her father occasionally works as an electrician. However, his income cannot adequately provide for all of their children.  Milagros attends public school, and her favorite subject is art. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball with her friends. Milagros' favorite color is pink, and she wants to become a doctor in the future.
