Mayolis lives with her mom, stepdad, and sister in the village of Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic. Her family moved here from Haiti several years ago. Her stepfather works in construction, but her mom has had difficulty finding work. Their income is not enough to provide for Mayolis' basic needs. Mayolis attends public school, and her favorite subject is math. In her free time, she loves to run and play with her friends. Her favorite food is rice and beans, and her favorite color is blue. Mayolis would like to become a doctor one day.
