Maiky lives in Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic with his mom and sister. He has epilepsy, and his family finds it very difficult to provide for his basic needs given that they must also provide for Maiky's treatment. Maiky's epilepsy is so severe that he is not able to attend school, but he enjoys spending time in the village amongst his friends. Maiky speaks Spanish, and his favorite color is blue.
