Lidia lives in Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lecheria are Haitian. Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Lidia lives with her mom and siblings, Jefrey and Felipe. Her mom works in the city cleaning houses for a living but does not make enough to adequately provide for her family. Her dad abandoned the family many years ago. Lidia attends public school, and her favorite subject is math. Lidia loves to run and play with her friends. Her favorite color is red, and she hopes to become a doctor one day.
