Leidy lives in Batey Lecheria, a village on the outskirts of Santo Domingo, located in the area of Los Alcarrizos. Villages are generally divided into "Dominican" villages or "Haitian" villages. Lecheria is a predominantly Haitian village. Like many villages in the Dominican Republic, people often settle and build makeshift homes on land they do not own. Leidy is a sweet young girl. She lives with her mom and siblings Starlin and Jefrey. Her mom works as a housekeeper to provide for the family. Her dad abandoned the family many years ago. Leidy attends public school. She likes math, and her favorite color is green. Leidy's favorite sport is soccer. Leidy wants to become a doctor in the future.
