Laura was born in 2009 and lives in Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lecheria are Haitian. Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Laura's mother cleans homes for a living, but her income is simply not enough to adequately provide for the family. Her father abandoned the family when she was much younger. Laura attends public school, and her favorite subject is language arts. In her free time, she loves to hang out with her friends. Her favorite color is pink, and she would like to become a doctor in the future.
