Kesmi lives with both parents and five siblings in Batey Lechera in the Dominican Republic. Her father works on the streets selling various items such as recycled plastic containers, and her mother sells groceries from their home. Their income is simply not enough to sustain the entire family. Kesmi's siblings are Maria age thirteen, Eliseo age eight who is also in 25 Project's sponsorship program, Jafeili age six, Keisla age four and Elias age two. The family lives in a two-room home. Currently, Kesmi is in 4^th grade at the primary public school. Her favorite subject is language arts. In her spare time she likes to play with her dolls. She wants to become a doctor when she grows up.
