Kapri was born in 2008. His mother does not know the exact date of his birth so we celebrate his birthday on January 1st. Kapri lives in the very poor fishing village of Tombo. Tombo is located on the western coastline and is a major hub for fish trade and transport.The town is known for its deeply religious Islamic faith. Because of the poor conditions and the bodies of water that surround Tombo, diseases such as Malaria, Typhoid and Cholera run rampant. Kapri lives with his mother who is a fish trader. His father left the family when Kapri was only four years old. Kapri's father has since remarried and does not take any responsibility for Kapri. Kapri's mother cannot adequately provide food or meet his other basic needs. Therefore, Kapri acquired a job cleaning fish in the Pepper Wharf area. He has been working cleaning fish since he was seven years old. Kapri was in Class II but stopped due to lack of funds to pay for school tuition, uniform, school supplies and other school fees. He would like to return to school if given the opportunity. Kapri would like to be an attorney in the future.
