Villa Laura is a predominantly poor Dominican village. Heidi's mom has had trouble finding work, but her dad has found work as a deliveryman. However, his income is not enough to provide for their family. Heidi is a vibrant child who attends public school where she likes math. Her favorite color is pink, and her favorite sport is volleyball. Heidi wants to become a teacher in the future.
