Hassan was born in 2005. His parents do not know the exact date of his birth so we celebrate his birthday on January 1st. Hassan lives with his mother and father. His mother cannot work because she cannot walk due to a medical condition with her feet. Hassan's father's ability to work is very limited due to an injury he sustained to both eyes while fetching wood in the Tombo Forest. Hassan is very distraught with his parent's condition. They cannot provide food for Hassan and his siblings or meet their other basic needs. Hassan has found work fetching wood, transporting fish baskets and organizing fish to be dried in a fish shack called Banda. Children who work in Bandas are exposed to constant smoke. Hassan was going to school but was forced to stop due to the lack of funds to pay for his school tuition, uniform, supplies, and other school fees. He would love to return to school if given the opportunity. Hassan would like to become an attorney in the future.
