Hassan lives with his grandmother, a cookery seller in the Tombo community. His father passed away when Hassan was a small child. One year later, his mother passed away due to complications while giving birth. His grandmother decided to help Hassan but could not sufficiently provide for his food and other basic needs. Because of this, Hassan often combed through trash piles in search of plastic water bottles, rubber, cups, and scrap metals to sell. Before he was sponsored, Hassan had never attended school due to lack of funds to pay for tuition, uniform, school supplies and other school fees. Hassan wants to be the President of Sierra Leone! Hassan's favorite pastime is football (soccer).
