 Foday's mother died eight years ago. He lives with his stepmother whois a fish trader. The income for fish traders is considerably low. Given the limited food available at home, Foday has found work organizing fish to be dried in a building called Bandaand packing fish in baskets in preparation for commercial sale. The work in a Banda is very difficult as it is consistently full of smoke. The people who work in Bandas are always inhaling the smoke and have other health issues due to the smoke. Foday was going to school but had to stop in Class III due to the lack of funds to pay for tuition, uniforms, school supplies and other school fees. His desire is to return to school and will reenter in Class IV if given the opportunity.
