Foday lives with his mother. His mother has a physical disability and resorted to prostitution at an early age. Foday does not know who his father is. His mother is not able to provide for him or his younger siblings. Foday has never attended school. He spends his days sorting through trash to find recyclable materials he can sell. Foday hopes to be in school, and wants to be a pastor one day. Foday lives in the very poor fishing village of Tombo. Tombo is located on the western coastline of Sierra Leone and is a major hub for fish trade and transport. The town is known for its deeply religious Islamic faith. Because of the poor conditions and the bodies of water that surround Tombo, diseases such as Malaria, Typhoid and Cholera run rampant.
