Fatmata Kamara lives with her mother who grows and sells vegetables for a living. Her father left their family to be with another woman when she was a baby. Fatmata’s mother tries her best to provide for her 3 children as a single mother, but it isn’t easy. Fatmata is in Class 1, but she is asked out of school when it’s time to make another payment. This causes lapses in her learning. Her favorite subject is English, and she wants to be a nurse when she grows up. Fatmata enjoys washing dishes after school, and her favorite food is macaroni salad.
