Esmeralin lives in the Dominican Republic in the village of Batey Lecheria with her mom, whom she loves more than anyone. Her dad left the family years ago. Esmeralin attends school, a 20 minute walk from her village. Her mother works hard as a housekeeper to provide for Esmeralin’s basic needs. Her favorite food is rice and beans, and her favorite color is pink. Esmeralin enjoys spending her free time playing with friends, and her biggest wish is to have toys to play with. Esmeralin’s favorite subject is math and she hopes to become a teacher someday.
