Eliseo lives in Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lechera are Haitian. Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Eliseo lives with both parents and five siblings. His father works on the streets selling various items such as recycled plastic containers, and his mother sells groceries from their home. Their income is simply not enough to sustain the entire family. The family lives in a two-room home. Eliseo speaks Spanish and attends public school. He enjoys mathematics class the best. In his free time, he likes to play soccer. When he grows up, Eliseo would like to be an engineer.
