Dorka lives in Batey Lecheria, a village on the outskirts of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lecheria are Haitian. Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Dorka lives with both of her parents and two siblings, Daniela and Alejandra. Both of Dorka's parents are not currently working.  Dorka attends public school, and her favorite subject is language arts. In her free time, she enjoys playing baseball. Her favorite color is pink, and she would like to become a doctor in the future.
