Darisa lives in the Dominican Republic in the village of Batey Lecheria with her grandmother and five siblings. Both of Darisa's parents died a couple of years ago; therefore, life has not been easy for Darisa. Her biggest wish is that her mother was here with her. Her grandmother is sick and unable to provide for Darisa and her siblings, so they have to rely on the help of their neighbors. Darisa walks 15 minutes to school daily, where her favorite subject is math. Her favorite food is rice and beans, and she loves the color pink. Darisa hopes to become a doctor someday.
