Danifer lives in Batey Lecheria, a village on the outskirts of Santo Domingo located in the area of Los Alcarrizos. Villages are generally divided into Dominican villages or Haitian villages. Lecheria is a predominantly Haitian village. Like many villages in the Dominican Republic, people often settle and build makeshift homes on land they do not own. Danifer lives with both parents and her five siblings. Danifer's mother has had trouble finding work, and her dad works in construction as much as he can. However, his income cannot adequately provide for his family. Danifer attends public school, and her favorite subject is math. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer and hanging out with her friends. Danifer wants to become a doctor in the future.
