Daniel lives in the Dominican Republic in the village of Batey Lecheria with his mom and two older siblings. He has had a difficult childhood. Daniel’s father passed away several years ago, and though he loves his mother very much, his biggest wish is that his father were here with him. Daniel attends school, and his favorite subject is math. School in the Dominican Republic is free, but children must provide their own uniforms and supplies. This creates a disadvantage for many students like Daniel, who do not have the necessary materials due to finances. During his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and hanging out with his friends. His favorite color is blue, and his favorite food is rice and chicken. When Daniel grows up, he hopes to become a police officer.
