Benalda was born in 2012 and lives with both parents in Batey Lecheria, a village on the outskirts of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult.  Benalda's dad works as a driver for a living but makes so little that he is not able to adequately provide for his family. Benalda attends public school where her favorite subject is math. Benalda's favorite color is purple, and she enjoys playing with dolls. She would like to be a teacher in the future.
