Arif has born into a Christian family. When he was twelve months old his father passed away in a traffic accident. Four years after the death of Arif's father, his mother eloped with a man, abandoning Arif with his maternal grandmother. Arif's grandmother did not own her own property, so she had to work other people's fields as a daily wage laborer to survive. She was not able to bring in much income because of her advanced age and frequent illness. As God would have it, Abhishek, a young man who lived at Mercy Homes and had graduated from the ministry, heard about Arif's situation. Abhishek lived in the same city as Arif and his grandmother. Abhishek spoke with Arif's grandmother and referred her to Mercy Homes. Arif's grandmother came to Mercy Homes to seek help and admittance for Arif. Arif currently lives in the 25 Project Mercy Homes. He loves to paint and wants to be a pilot one day.
