Alie was born in 2004. His mother does not know the exact date of his birth so we celebrate his birthday on January 1st. Alie's parents separated five years ago. His father is a fisherman in another fishing community, Mama Beach Community. Alie only sees his father on the weekends that his father returns to Tombo to visit. Alie lives with his stepmother. Alie's stepmother cannot adequately provide food and other basic needs for him. She severely mistreats him. Alie often visits his biological mother asking for food and other basic needs, however, his mother cannot support him adequately either. Alie has found several odd jobs in the Pepper Wharf area. Alie has recently found a job chopping wood in the Tombo Forest and carrying it into the community to sell. Alie was going to school but stopped in Class V due to lack of funds to pay forschool tuition, uniform, school supplies and other school fees. He would love to return to school. Alie would like to be the president of Sierra Leone one day.
