Alhaji lives with his aunt who is a fish trader. His father is jobless, residing in the interior of the country. His mother died three years ago, leaving Alhaji hopeless in the Tombo community. His aunt took Alhaji in but has many responsibilities to care for her own children as well as other family member's children. Therefore, his aunt cannot provide sufficiently for the whole family. Being aware of his desperate situation for food and other basic needs, Alhaji found work with boat builders in the Pepper Wharf area. There, he helps build boats, transports boat-building materials and does anything else the boat builders need him to do. At times, he has to work tirelessly without earning any funds for the day. Alhaji, therefore also has other jobs like transporting fish baskets from the Pepper Wharf to the park, market or fish traders homes. He has been working these jobs for two years now. Alhaji stopped schooling in Class IV due to lack of funds to pay for tuition, school supplies and other school fees. His desire is to resume school if given the opportunity. Alhaji would like to be the president of Sierra Leone someday.
