Mivuyo means “our joy,” and she certainly is a joy to us! Mivuyo lives life to the fullest! She loves so many things that it is hard for her to contain her excitement. Her favorite classes at Intlantsi Christian School are Language Arts and History. Purple, pink, blue and black are her favorite colors. Mivuyo’s favorite foods must include pizza, noodles, and all kinds of snacks! And when it comes to sports, she loves playing both netball (a game similar to American basketball) and soccer! When asked what she would like to be when she grows up, Mivuyo listed an animal doctor, a singer, and an artist! Mivuyo has big goals and bigger hopes. When she is not at home during the school week at Intlantsi Christian School in Fort White, she is living with her aunt in Ngcamngeni, a small village in the area. While Fort White has the most modern amenities available in the area, the surrounding villages are quite different. In most villages, people collect water from a communal tap and use outhouses. Though they have access to electricity, most villagers cannot afford to pay for an electric meter. Most of our children have grown up attending no-fee schools, where they are provided what may be their only meal of the day.
