Adeline was born in 2010 and lives in Batey Lecheria in the Dominican Republic with her parents. Batey is the Haitian word for village. The older generations in Batey Lecheria are Haitian. Life for Haitians in the Dominiican is difficult. Adeline is the eldest of five children. Adeline's dad works gathering stones and construction materials from the river near the village to try and sustain the family. They pay a monthly rent of $12 on a very humble home. Adeline attends the public school, and her favorite subject is math. She loves to hang out with her friends and enjoys volleyball. Adeline's favorite color is blue, and she hopes to be a doctor someday.
