Sandra lives in Batey Lecheria, in the Dominican Republic with her mom, dad and brother. Batey is the Haitian word for village. Like most living in Batey Lecheria, Sandra is of Haitian descent. Life for Haitians in the Dominican is difficult. Her mom is having trouble finding work, and her dad repairs old fans for a living. Her father's income cannot adequately provide for their family. Sandra attends public school and loves math. In her free time, she enjoys playing baseball and hanging out with her friends. Her favorite color is pink, and she hopes to become a doctor one day.
