My favorite subject is Math.

I enjoy playing rugby.

I want to be a lawyer or professional rugby player.

Hlumelo means “future,” and Hlumelo hopes his future includes becoming a lawyer and/or a professional rugby player.  But, in the meantime, he loves playing his favorite sport, rugby, and participating in the long jump with Intlantsi Christian School’s track team. His favorite foods of meat and burgers will certainly keep him powered up for his sports!  But sports are not Hlumelo’s only love.  He also enjoys studying math and English, and his favorite color is red.  While Hlumelo spends the school week at Intlantsi in Fort White, on the weekends, he lives with his grandmother in the nearby village of Upper Rabula.  Fort White has the most modern amenities available in the area.  However, the surrounding villages are quite different.  In most villages, people collect water from a communal tap and use outhouses.  Though they have access to electricity, most villagers cannot afford to pay for an electric meter. Most of our children have grown up attending no-fee schools, where they are provided what may be their only meal of the day.
